York Civil, as part of the T2T Alliance, have been named as one of two bidders shortlisted to move on to the Tender phase of the Torrens to Torrens project.
The T2T Alliance and competitor Connect will complete an 18 week competitive tender process, which will decide the successful contractor. The tender process will occur between November 2014 and March 2015.
The Torrens to Torrens project will include the upgrade of 3.7km of South Road, from Torrens Road to the River Torrens, a lowered continuous motorway under Port and Grange Roads, parallel surface roads along the length of the lowered motorway, intersection upgrades at Torrens Road, Hawker Street, Hurtle Street, Port Road and Grange Road/Manton Street, and a rail overpass for the Outer Harbor rail line over South Road.
“This is an important milestone for the delivery of this transformational project which will support hundreds of new jobs, slash travel times for motorists and boost South Australia’s economic capacity,” Federal Infrastructure Assistant Minister Jamie Briggs said.
York Civil Managing Director, Dominic Vieceli, said “This landmark project represents an important step in our company’s continued growth and our shortlisting serves as recognition of the valuable contribution York Civil has made to the construction of the State’s infrastructure over the last 20 years. The T2T project will create an estimated 480 jobs per year during its construction phase.”
The Contract is expected to be awarded in the second quarter of next year, with the works to commence mid-2015, to be completed by the end of 2018.
