Community Consultation

York Civil's approach to community consultation is to work in collaboration to ensure that we limit the impact on the surrounding areas, community and stakeholders. Transparency, thorough planning and a 'no surprises' culture is to be the hallmark of our engagement with the community.

We have identified a number of initiatives to ensure transparency for the community and that information flows freely between the stakeholders and the project. Some initiatives we have implemented in the past are:

  • A 24-hour information line
  • Media bulletins
  • Open days and tours
  • Tree planting days
  • Information booths
  • The establishment of a community reference group
  • Dedicated project websites
  • Direct engagement with stakeholders for property access

We also recognise that many of our key stakeholders are community organisations such as local indigenous groups, local councils, and environmental groups.

We ensure that mechanisms are available to people and organisations to make comment through feedback lines, community forums and access to the project office. In addition, we continue to proactively seek feedback from the various groups to ensure that we understand the local community's needs.
