Community Involvement

York Civil's community and charity involvement encompasses the following organisations and programs:

Novita

Novita Children's Services was established in 1939 as the Crippled Children's Association of SA, to care for children diagnosed with polio. Novita currently provides essential therapy, equipment and family support to more than 1300 children - and through broader work with families and communities, has a direct impact on more than 10,000 South Australians. Every year York Civil sponsors the Novita Children's Party.

Whitelion

Whitelion is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to build meaningful relationships and create opportunities to enable high risk young people and those involved in the Youth Justice System to reconnect with society and reach their full potential. This is achieved through role modelling, mentoring, employment and indigenous programs. York Civil in partnership with the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club are excited to be involved with Whitelion to develop opportunities and work placements for youth in the program.

Indigenous Employment Program

York Civil has developed an Indigenous Employment Program which is currently being implemented across our business. The program has been evolved from the Northern Expressway Project where the stated project key performance indicator (KPI) for Youth and Indigenous employment was set at 10% of all project personnel. The average value for the project is approximately 15%.

Now, York Civil has developed an Indigenous Employment Program in conjunction with recognised Indigenous groups to offer specifically tailored training to assist individuals with entry into the construction industry.

Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club

York Civil has been the major sponsor of the Magpies since 2009. The official launch and announcement in December 2008 was held at a York Civil project site with the players proudly wearing the new 2009 Magpies playing jumper. The Magpies have been a dominant force with an impressive 33 Grand Final wins since 1901.
