CENTRAL PIPELINE PROJECT
SA Water’s North South Interconnection System Project (NSISP) is an initiative to deliver an upgrade to the existing metropolitan Adelaide distribution network infrastructure through provision of interconnectivity between the northern and southern water supply networks. The planned interconnectivity will enable water from the Adelaide Desalination Plant at Port Stanvac, along with water from Adelaide reservoirs and the River Murray, to be utilised throughout the Metropolitan Adelaide Water Supply System.
This Central Pipeline Package comprises of 10.4km of pipeline between the proposed Gilberton Pump Station to Hope Valley treated water storage tanks. The pipeline will be laid underground in road reserve throughout the alignment, except where permission has been received to go through open space.
York Civil, with design contractors SKM are in the process of developing a detailed design and construction solution for the project.
Mild steel cement line (MSCL) pipe of 13m lengths will be used for the pipeline to ensure durable long life.
The Central Pipeline Project will be delivered using York Civil’s own people, plant and equipment.
Survey work is currently being undertaken along the alignment to locate existing services and to provide geotechnical information on ground conditions. Construction of the pipeline is expected to commence in early December 2011.
