Indigenous Employment Program

York Civil has developed an Indigenous employment program which is currently being implemented across our business. The program has been evolved from the Northern Expressway Project where the stated project key performance indicator (KPI) for Youth and Indigenous employment was set at 10% of all project personnel. The average value for the project was approximately 15%.

Now, York Civil has developed an Indigenous Employment Program in conjunction with recognised Indigenous groups to offer specifically tailored training to assist individuals with entry into the construction industry.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

We currently offer two apprenticeships per year in the carpentry field and as required plant mechanic apprenticeships at our Wingfield plant depot. The company traineeship program offers Certificate III, IV and a Diploma level certificate with training in the following areas:

  • Civil construction plant operations for field staff
  • Occupational health and safety for our safety team
  • Frontline management for all supervisory personnel.
