Adelaide Central Reinforcement City West Substation

The $300 million Adelaide Central Reinforcement (ACR) project is one of the largest upgrades of electrical infrastructure ever undertaken in Adelaide.

York Civil was the head contractor for the construction of the ACR City West substation component, which houses the gas-insulated switchgear equipment incorporating two 300t reactors and two 300t transformers.

York Civil delivered the switchgear and transformer bay ahead of schedule, despite working within a constrained site and interfacing with numerous disciplines and contractors.

The project was awarded the Civil Contractors Federation Earth Awards Category 3 Project for projects valued between $5 and $20 million (South Australian Winner, 2012).
