Adelaide Freight Terminal Stage 1
The Adelaide Freight Terminal (AFT) is located in Regency Park, approximately 10km north of the Adelaide CBD, and was constructed in the 1980s.
Apart from minor changes, the Terminal has not been upgraded or refurbished since and sections of infrastructure, particularly track and pavement, are now showing varying degrees of distress and ageing. Many of the pavement issues stem from the infrastructure originally being designed to accommodate RTG cranes and truck traffic rather than the Reachstakers currently in use at the Terminal.
To upgrade the Terminal to meet the current and future requirements of users, and particularly to minimise safety risks, York civil has been contracted to undertake the following scope of works:
- construction of heavy duty pavements
- electrical installation works for purposes of providing power to reefer points of connection
- installation of utility conduits for future proofing purposes, and
- line marking and signage.
Constructed under live rail conditions, the project requires close collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure all parties maintain operations unhindered by construction works. By self-performing the works using our own construction crews, we are able to provide flexibility in changing work approaches to minimise this risk.
Early works commenced on site in February 2015 and Stage 1 commenced in March 2015.
