Extension to Berth 7
To facilitate an increase in freight volumes through the Port of Adelaide, York Civil was contracted to undertake the extension of Berth 7 at the DP World Facility.
The 150m extension of Berth 7, which involved connecting to the adjacent grain berth, enables two Panamax size vessels to berth simultaneously. York Civil was the prime contractor undertaking all works including dredging, piling, structural concrete and pavements.
The wharf deck comprised a 150m long reinforced concrete structure founded on 600mm diameter piles.
The project was awarded the Civil Contractors Federation Earth Awards – Category 3 Project Value between $5 and $20 million (South Australian Winner, 2009)
