North South Interconnection System Project Gilberton Pump Station

The objective of SA Water’s North South Interconnection System Project was to upgrade the existing metropolitan Adelaide water distribution network infrastructure through the provision of interconnectivity between the northern and southern water supply networks.

York Civil developed a detailed design and construction solution for the Gilberton Pump Station component of the project. When constructed the Pump Station had the capacity to transfer approximately 650L/s of water through the Central Pipeline.

The pump station included two horizontal, split case centrifugal pumps with each pump set including an independently mounted flywheel for surge mitigation and a 250kW low voltage electric motor operating under variable speed drive control.
