Santos Stadium Civil Works

Santos Stadium, opened on Australia Day in 1998, is the premier venue for athletics in South Australia hosting State, national and international events.

The stadium has seating for 8,000 people and comprises a grandstand, arena, synthetic tracks, mounding, car park, access roads, warm-up area and associated services and landscaping. York Civil undertook all civil works including site preparation, earthworks and drainage.

Specialist works included the supply and installation of the synthetic running surfaces, landing and jump pits for pole vault, long and triple jump tracks, and grass surfaces for field events and other landscaping.

As part of the scope of works York Civil also constructed the car park with on-site parking for up to 500 cars and an additional 700 car park spaces adjacent to the site.

All works were undertaken using York Civil’s own people, plant and equipment. York Civil successfully delivered the project without any lost time injuries or industrial relations incidents.

This project won the Civil Trust of SA Buildings in their Settings award in 2000. More aware winning projects can be viewed here.
