Spring Gully Water Treatment Facility Feed Dam

Spring Gully is a gas extraction and processing operation owned by Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas Pty Ltd (APLNG Pty Ltd) and operated by Origin Energy. The site consists of three gas plants; Spring Gully, Taloona and Strathblane.

Associated water is produced as part of the gas extraction process and stored in holding ponds, treated and used for irrigation or discharged into the local creek system while saline effluent is stored in holding ponds.

Works were undertaken to ensure that all ponds were compliant with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection regulatory requirements. In addition water modelling showed that increased brine storage was required if the field was to remain operational.

York Civil was contracted to configure Pond A, Cell 1 into three cells, the Water Treatment Facility Feed Dams West and East, each 60ML capacity, and the Effluent Dam with a capacity of 1ML. Works comprised 190,000m³ of earthworks, construction of 2.5km of pipeline and 3,300m² of road pavements.
