Bolivar Waste Water Treatment Plant

This series of projects under the Bolivar Environment Improvement Program represented a significant investment by SA Water being in excess of $100 million. The project has also been a tremendous success story for the environment in relation to water reuse and protecting the marine environment where the wastewater was once allowed to flow.

The overall aim of the project was to both concentrate treatment of suburban effluent as well as improve the treatment process. Wastewater is now treated and transformed into Class A reclaimed water which is reused for irrigation of market gardens in the north of Adelaide.

The role of York Civil was to construct the activated sludge reactor and sequence batch reactor. This included the construction of 200m x 100m concrete structures with 6m high walls as well as pipework, services and associated structures.
