Cathedral Rocks Wind Farm

Renewable energy projects are vital for the survival of our planet and York Civil is proud to contribute to such projects. The $120M Cathedral Rocks Wind Farm project is located on the remote limestone cliffs south of Port Lincoln in South Australia. The wind farm has a generating capacity of 66 MW and consists of thirty-three 2 MW wind turbines. Each turbine has a blade diameter of 80 metres, erected on 60 metre towers.

The electricity generated by the Cathedral Rocks Wind Farm produces enough green energy to power 35,000 homes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 150,000 tonnes each year.

York Civil undertook all civil works and electrical installations including the construction of 30 kilometres of roads, turbine footings, control buildings as well as the electrical installation of the main substation, power collection substations, and energisation of the facility.
