River Murray Improvement Project

The Murray-Darling is Australia's largest river catchment with a length of 2,560 km, an area of 1,063,000 km2 and an annual flow of 147,000 GL. SA Water in conjunction with the Murray Darling Basin Commission have undertaken this project to restore the health of the Murray River, one of the most important sources of potable water and natural habitat in Australia.

York Civil undertook the construction of the fishways in the Murray River as part of the strategic plan to improve fish migration and the overall riverine health. The Project also included the modification of navigable passes within the locks and weirs at each barrier between Lake Hume and the sea.
